Vehicles Accidents Questions asked
Open Question: How much would my insurence increase?
I am a 17 year old male recently involved in an automobile accident. Driving at what is considered to fast for conditions i ran into a telephone pole and totaled my car while driving after curfew on my PA underage license. Me and my passenger where the only ones involved, both of us with only some cuts. My question is, after recently ingaging in an accident, if i where to buy a type of faster car like im looking at right now, like a camero or a mustang, how much would my insurence rates increase...these would be 90's vehicles...the car i crashed was a stock 2003 Mitsubishi Lancer moreOpen Question: My inurance company sent me a check for no reason-?
I was recently in an accident, a fender bender really. There was minimal damage on either vehicle. I was at fault, and decided not to seek compensation for any damage to my car...seeing in how there was none. I took my car in to be inspected and such by the insurance company, and today I received a check for around $200. What is this for? Am I supposed to pay for something with it, or is it for my pocket? I didn't know causing an accident got you money. If its a mistake am I oppligated to give it back?I took it because I was disputing damage to other car. They were claiming damage to there car that could not have possibly came from my car. My insurance company wanted pictures, measurements, etc. My insurance company doesn't like to answer calls. I have been on hold for over an hour. moreOpen Question: Passenger in auto accident - California?
Owner of car was in passenger seat (has only liability). Driver of vehicle (his girlfriend) has full coverage with 100,000 for injury. I incurred a rib fracture, a cervical strain and a lumbar strain. I have emotional problems that root back to my childhood and I go to a psychologist weekly for this. We were on the freeway going 80mph. I was sleeping in the back seat (laying down, but with my seat belt on). The driver lost control of the vehicle some how and we went from the middle lane and head on collided with the center divider ( I know crazy). After the initial impact we started to spin counter clock wise, then struck the center divider again in the back left (when I was seated). The vehicle was completely totaled. I've had nightmares and trouble sleeping. On top of this the owner of the vehicle had threatened me if I told the insurance what happened ( he wanted to do insurance fraud). I had to get a lawyer and endure this injuries for 3 months before I was aloud to seek treatment. On monday I will start my Physical therapy for 12 sessions. My question is: can my lawyer seek damages from both parties even if my medical bills don't pile up to the liability maximum? (fractured rib don't run up the medical bills). Would I be eligible to go after both his 15/30 and her 100,000? My lawyer "is always busy" so he doesn't really answer my questions. Thanks so much! And please only answer this if Truly know. moreOpen Question: car accident, not at fault, but no insurance, other driver has no license. what to do?
my parents got into a car accident with another driver. however, it wasn't their fault. in addition, my parents don't have insurance for that car because they just go it about 2 months ago (used.) but we have 2 other vehicles that are insured. does that mean that our car is technically under the policy? The other driver, who was at fault, HAS NO LICENSE but has an identification card, and has insurance. (her license is probably suspended) what are my parent's options? moreOpen Question: Can studded snow tires make your car skid on wet roads?
I had a MAJOR car accident 2 months ago. My power steering was going (it was a 95 V.W. Cabrio convertible 2 liter) and my car also had studded snow tires on it. I was on a wet road and the car skid (I was only going 40 mph), leaving me with no control of the vehicle. It hit something, rolled and eventually hit trees. Now, is it possible that the traction on the tires was not there? I had no money to switch out my tires and my parents would not help me (but they would help my sister and her car, spending thousands on struts/shocks, new transmission, etc.). Is it possible to prove to them that it was the tires? To add: I was NOT tired when driving (indeed, I was singing along to the radio) and I knew that there was no puddle in sight that I could seen. Could have been small, but I skid anyhow.Power steering was also going moreResolved Question: Supporters of illegal immigration please tell me what would you tell this family Drunk driver disappears?
LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - A family member who has lost her daughter and grandson said she is outraged because the man allegedly connected to their deaths has disappeared. "He's gone and they don't even know where he is," said Belinda Thomas, mother. "He [Vicente Gonzalez] disguised himself in whatever, he cut his hair, he did whatever he had to disguise himself and then left without permission of the doctor or the hospital taking a chance of dying," said Sgt. Greg Sanches, Department of Public Safety spokesperson. Sanches said Gonzalez, 30, of Corrigan, had severe injuries, including a broken leg and a bleeding brain. He said DPS didn't think Gonzalez was a flight risk. Gonzalez disappeared from a Houston hospital on June 8. He is charged in the deaths of Willie Lacy, 48, of Alto, Crystal Thomas, 29, of Lufkin, and Christopher Gross, 4, after he allegedly drove drunk and ran head-on into them. "That would be a different situation, but here we're talking about a motor vehicle accident and someone being charged with a DWI," said Sanches. DPS Trooper Josh Senn told KTRE on June 18th that he knew Gonzalez was out of the hospital, but gave no indication of concern that Gonzalez was missing. Sanches said hospital officials were watching him. "They have police that work at the hospital and they were notified," said Sanches. "They [hospital police] were keeping check on Mr. Gonzalez, making sure that everything was going like it should." This isn't the first time Gonzalez allegedly drove drunk. In 1999 he was charged with driving while intoxicated. "But this time he took the lives of my family members," said Thomas. Sanches said Gonzalez is an illegal immigrant and believes he used false information to obtain a driver's license. "More than likely he had to because if you're illegal, there's no way you can have a drivers license," said Sanches. Sanches said immigration officials were notified of the charges against Gonzalez on June 5. "Until they [illegal immigrants] commit a felony, then there's nothing you can do about it," said Sanches. While Gonzalez was charged in the deaths, a formal warrant was not served on him and it would not be served on him until he had checked out of the hospital. "They need to find him or give me a badge," said Thomas. Badge or no badge, Thomas said she will never stop looking for the man standing accused of killing her family until justice is served. Sanches said a Crimestoppers will be made in hopes of finding Gonzalez. That Crimestoppers will air on KTRE. http://www.ktre.com/Global/story.asp?S=10622126&nav=menu118_5_4_3Librarya...Ok question why is Mexico putting out information like this to those coming here illegally it must be a huge factor ? I just recieved a ticket for failure to reduce speed to emerging traffic. Now, my big gripe about injustice is that I was traveling N on RT 31 with my 6 month pregnant wife in the passenger side on a two lane paved road, which was merging into a one lane 200- 300 meters in front of us. I was on the left side of the road and there was this black Ford Crown Victorian car on the right side of me slighlty ahead of me. These vehicles have been and are still being used by some undercover police. I see that the road in front of us is merging from a two lane, same direction, into a one lane. So I braked to slow down to allow the car slightly ahead of me on my right side to merge into the one lane. But for some odd reason the black Ford also slowed down to the point where I thought I could pass him and let him merge behind me. When I attempted to pass him I was still within the speed limit posted nearby and still had plenty of road to easily pass him and not cause any problems. Now keep in mind that I thought this was an undercover police officer or just a police officer in an unmarked vehicle. Well here's the ZINGER! While I was attempting to pass him, the black Ford Crown Victorian quickly sped up! Which caught me off guard, I was thinking WHAT IS THIS GUY DOING! Before I could react, I see him jerk is steering wheel to the left and rams my car! I was shocked! WTF IS GOING ON HERE! I gripped the steering wheel to control my vehicle so to not cross the solid yellow line, the incoming traffic, one lane. He then swirved to the right into a dirt road parking lot nearby and I immediately followed him after checking the minor traffic behind us. Surely the drivers behind us must of witnessed what had just occured. To my surprise not one driver stopped to see if we were ok. Yes it was some what of a minor accident. But I was hoping I could've gotten witnesses info. for court purposes. So I pull into the dirt parking lot and he pulls next to me and asked if we were ok. I responded by asking," What happened, didn't you see me!" He casualy said yea. Then I told him that he scared the crap out of my wife because she was the one who got the blunt of the impact. My wife is pouring her eyes out in distress! As I was getting out the car, I told him that I wanted to see his ID and insurance, but before I could finish asking him, he took off! I followed him so I could record his lincense plate number and make/ model of car. He didn't speed away, he casualy was driving like if nothing had happened. I called the police to report the accident after I had returned to the scene of the accident. It took the police 35 minutes to arrive. I did get a call from the sherriff asking me what had happened. I explained to the police officer what had happened, and he told me that they were in the processes of searching for the vehicle that hit me. An hour and 15 minutes had passed by since the time of the accident. TO MY SURPRISE! The offender, in my eyes, pulls up in the dirt parking lot and the police officer speaks to him. He writes up all the paper work and talks to him breifly and then comes to my vehicle and hands me the paper work. I asked him if that was a police officer and he says no. Then I notice that I recieved a ticket. I asked the police officer, " Wait a minute, what's going on here? Why am I getting a citation if he's the one who diliberately rammed into my car!" He says that he called the sheriff and the local traffic investigation unit and that that was the outcome. Here I am feeling like I am being screwed! I don't know if he got a citation, the other driver, but I will be finding out in court. I must of not explained that well to the sheriiff when he called me. On top of that the call from the sheriff was lost, cell phone. Sorry for the long story but I do feel a little better about what happened. Do you think I rightly deserve a citation? moreOpen Question: Rental Car Insurance Confusion?
If I get pulled over by a LEO for speeding while driving a rental car and I'm asked for license and proof of insurance, what should I have? Is MY proof of insurance on my personal vehicle acceptable? Or must I have purchased the rental car company's? I recognize that car rental companies offer insurance on the vehicle for an extra fee, but I thought that is only for damages in case of an accident. Or do I need to purchase theirs as proof of insurance? moreOpen Question: I was involved in an accident where a vehicle hit me in the rear end, what to do?
A vehicle hit me while i was completely stopped, they hit me on the rear bumper in which it totaled their vehicle but barely harmed mine, some damages but not totaled, because i have a huge suv and they had a van. the cops were called, and listened to the story where the man driving clearly took responsibility. I Later went to the hospital the following day because my back was aching but no major injuries. My insurance company got ahold of the mans insurance company and him, he claims he never hit me and it has now been a week since i called the insurance company of his and mine and havent heard from him or his insurance company. Should I contact a lawyer to help get this figured out a little quicker or no? I am now somewhat aggrivated, in which he claims that nothing happened but thank goodness for State Troopers showing up thank you, any advice would be helpful. P.S. the worst part was i was nice enough to contact a friend a have his car towed for free. moreOpen Question: Do you get road rage when driving? why?
There are so many variables that make drivers stupid, dumb or ignorant such as... cell phones, emergency vehicles, pedestrians, motorcycles, texting, traffic jams, unpredictable timing, accidents, etc. Why aren’t you patient? You make mistakes as well, I know I do. I’m 30 now I have been driving since I was 15. moreOpen Question: Do you have to claim an auto accident on private property?
1.5 months ago my wife backed into my mother in-laws car in our driveway. There is a 6 inch scratch on both vehicles and it's not very deep. There are no dents. The only thing that would need done is a little paint. She hardly touched it. At the time I offered to take it down to the shop and have it filled because it was only priced at $100. She said not to worry about it that it wasn't that big of a deal. Now, 2 days ago she claimed it on her insurance for whatever reason and wants it fixed. She will not let me just pay the $100 out of pocket. Her insurance company contacted me and told me that they could suspend driver’s licenses and tags (Don't know why they started the conversation out like that but it was kind of rude). I called them back and told them that it was on private property and there is only a scratch. I also told them I wanted to pay it out of pocket and I didn't want this on my insurance record because it's only a scratch. I live in Kansas. I have no problem paying for it but claiming it is just ridiculous. Seeing how it was on private property and such little damage, do we have to claim this? Do I even have to contact her insurance company again and work with them? If it’s on private property, can they really suspend my driver’s license? If the damage is for, let’s say $100, do I have to pay that plus my mother in-laws deductable after her insurance company bills me? What options do I have? moreOpen Question: Minor car accident, what should I do next?
As I explained in my other question... I was in a minor accident. Basically the only things damaged are the bumpers (relatively low speed hit). Anyway... no charges were laid. I (mistakenly?) offered to pay for the damage if we could keep the insurance companies out of the equation... since I'm still a young driver my rates will likely cost 10 times more than the cost to repair both vehicles. What do I do? Keep offering to pay? Say nothing more and hope he doesn't sue me since I may have inadvertently admitted fault? Actually... since no charges are being laid, would he be able to successfully sue me? moreOpen Question: Car Accident: What ever happened to integrity and morality in the world?
So today I got into a minor car accident. I hit some oil or something on the road on a rainy day and slid into a guy. The first thing I did was jump out and ask if they were okay. Next we got the police, did a report, etc. etc. The police said he wasn't going to lay any charges. I suggested that I should pay for the damage to his vehicle, which appeared to be nothing more than scrapes and dents to the bumper (my car faired worse with a broken headlight, cracked bumper, bent metal). So I call my dad, who immediately panics and tell me how I should NOT have offered to pay, not have apologized, and should have tried to speak as though the other driver was at fault! He then went to explain how some of our neighbours had made their fortune suing people like me in minor accidents like the one I had. What... the... heck?! Can someone please explain to me why anyone would do something so bad to someone who is trying to be nice and trying to be responsible? (By the way, those neighbours are now off my Christmas card list) moreOpen Question: what could this mean about my car?
I went to a dealership to trade in my car. First the guy told me my carfax reported a damaged bean pillar.... he went on about how my cars structual integrity was at stake and he could never legaly resell my car... ok so i looked a little deeper and had some questions. there was "Damage Reported" now im not sure if it was an accident if it would say "Accident reported"? anyways the "rear passenger side was pillar" the details dont say it was an accident. it doesnt even say that there was any maintanence done.. it says and i quote " Vehicle Inspected After An Accident "OR" other Incident Damage to Right Read Pillar" it doesnt say it was involved in anything just that somone inspected that pillar which is the section of frame in the rear corner that seperates the glass.... the dealership went on about how they cant resell this car and lied about what was damaged as far as ive found out "Bean Pillars" dont exist. how should i go about talking to these people. if it was in a collision or accident wouldnt the car fax suggest so.... it sounds to me it could have been somthing as simple as she backed into a garage door or a sign or somthing high enough just to damage that one portion of the car. all other issues came up clean. no airbag deploment, no total loss, no "stuctual damage" no odometer rollback. just under Accident/ Damage check it says "Damage reported". help plz moreOpen Question: Results of accident hearing: What Do I Get?
Heres the story. I slid, about 5mph on feb. 8, 2008, into another road, stopped when my car bumped the snowbank on the opposing side, and then my car would not move at all. Another driver in a pickup truck slid up hill into me, totaling my car, and putting a small dent in the license plate. I was found more than 50% at fault, but both my insurance agent and the local police recommend that I appeal. I finally have a date scheduled next week. I had limited collision insurance at the time, where if I was found less than 50% at fault, the insurance company would have covered the repairs, or paid for my totaled vehicle, which would have been $2,500. Of course, because I was found more than 50% at fault, I got nothing, and since brought the vehicle to the junkyard. If I win the hearing, and am found less than 50% at fault, I know the insurance surcharge won't happen, but will I get anything for the damage? After all, if they had found the same result in the first place, I would have gotten the value of the car to purchase a new one. Thanks for your advice. moreOpen Question: Just got in a accident, how do I handle this with the other person's insurance company?
Here's my story, I hit another vehicle who failed to stop at a stop sign. She was issued an citation. This was my first accident and I made the stupidest mistake by not getting her information, but as I was getting out of my car. The witnesses told me not to move since I was injured and that the police will get both the information down. They did but for themselves. I talked to my insurance company and they told me to file a claim against her with her insurance company. I will as soon as the police reports are done. My vehicle airbags were deployed and I heard that once that happens, the car is declared total? I talked to many people about my situation and they said it's better to have the vehicle be totaled out then to repair it because you never know what other damage can come up in the future from this accident. And I would really rather not have any other problems come up with my vehicle in the future. What does it mean if the vehicle is totaled out? Do they give me the full amount of what the vehicle is worth? Or do they pay off the vehicle I'm paying off right now and get me a brand new one ( well not brand new as in 2009 brand new but like one just the car I have?) I was also told that I can argue with her insurance company if they decide to give me funds to repair the car that I can go against it and tell them no if I'm not satisfied with it and bargain for more then what they offer. If it is declared total out, from what I understand. They will give me 21g for the vehicle which is how much it is when I bought it and if they do. Do I use that fund to pay off the wrecked car I have right now?! But If I do I won't have any funds for a new vehicle at all! I hope that's not how it works, please clarify that for me. This is my first accident and I'm 18. I'm really confused about what I can do and what I should do. My dad advise me to find a lawyer to deal with her insurance company about my medical condition as my arm was used to block the airbags from hitting me and he said in a accident this bad I'm bond to feel some pain a few days later. Is a lawyer really necessary or can I just take this up to her insurance company to cover my car and my medical attention? By the way trust me this is not a way of me trying to get a new vehicle. I have only owned this car for 2 weeks!!! and I love my 05 Honda S2000 to death!! and if repairs are the case, I really rather have a new Honda S2000 without the collision. Please help me and let me know if you need anymore information. moreResolved Question: Someone pls correct this letter for me, pretty please ...Easy 10 points!!!?
I'm writing to express my gratitude and commend one of your police Officers, Officer Michael Brown, Badge # 8888. On the morning of Saturday June 20th, 2009, after leaving from a reunion with my friend in which we took separate vehicles coming from San Diego and only familiar with the 405 and 22 freeway in which both freeways that morning were closed and we ended up getting lost for sometime. To make it even worse my friend didn't have her cell phone to even communicate with me and ended up waving me down to park on 7th and Termino. As we parked another vehicle ended up side swiping me in which it withdrew the driver side window and door. I became frantic and worried because my primary concern that day (aside from my friend and the other driver’s safety) was to get back home to San Diego. Officer Brown was the LBPD officer who responded to the accident . I found Officer Brown to be helpful, knowledgeable and professional. He had my vehicle towed for safety precautions and advised me to file a claim with my insurance company. Not only did this officer show empathy and concern in my situation he went above and beyond by leading us to an open freeway. You probably know already know what a credit he is to the department and the city. I have been involved in a few similar accidents in my life (none of which I was at fault). In those past accident experiences, I had less than courteous and/or mediocre service from those other police departments. The level of service, quality, and timeliness afford to me by the LBPD through Officer Brown was outstanding and deserved recognition in my mind. Please extend my sincere thanks to your officer for a job well done. moreOpen Question: Tips on fighting "Following Too Closely" citation in court?
I got court in 5 days, I rear ended a driver and the driver called the cops, I got a following too closely citation which I chose to attend court to explain the details in hopes to get if off my record. Details of Accident: Accident occurred on the highway at 35 MPH before i hit the brakes. I was at least 4 car lengths behind the driver in front of me. The driver in front of me slammed on the car breaks and swerved off the road onto the left shoulder. as to not hit the car in front of her, and left her right rear exposed. My front left headlight area hit her rear right area. Her behavior was very sudden and confusing, my instincts said she was going completely off onto the shoulder, well i was wrong. When i slammed on my breaks I slid all the way into her car, wheels were locked up and I feel I did my best in the situation. Apparently there was a light shower prior to my presence and I had not known this nor was there obvious evidence that there was a thin layer of water on the asphalt. She called the cops for some reason, I have no idea why. The damage done to her vehicle was nonexistent to my perception, perhaps a scratch or two that i was unable to locate. My headlight, fender and hood got a bit crumpled up because my vehicle was lower than hers so her bumper slid over mine. Had our vehicles been level i doubt any damage would have occurred. I was able to fully replace all parts at the out of pocket cost of 125$. Calling the cops was not necessary as the cops only have to be called if the total damage done exceeded 700$ in the state of Washington. Are there any tips on fighting my case in court, paying the 175$ following too closely citation doesn't bother me, I just don't want this incident on my record to save me in the long run for insurance costs. moreOpen Question: our car was totaled in an accident that was not our fault and yet were still out a car?
My husband is in the army and was in a car accident today. A construction company hit our car which totaled it out and as far as I know the only thing that's going to happen is that there insurance will pay off our car well atleast the value of our car and whatever maybe left will be covored by our Gap insurance. But we are still a family of 5 without a vehicle now. Is there any way we can have them replace our car or get something to put down on another vehicle? We have rental insurance but what about long term? We like most of america today don't have the finances to just buy a new car or even put money down for a new car and we were working on building our credit to trade in our car for a van but that's not going to happen now. I am talking about Property damages. Shouldn't the person at fault be some what responsible for property damages? moreOpen Question: I was involved in a car accident and I was charged with an improper turn. Could I fight the charge in court?
At the time of 3 AM (low visability & wet roads from rain earlier in the night) I entered an intersection from a stop sign and as I entered the road I was struck by a vehicle driving down from behind the hill which I had not seen prior to the accident. I want to plead not guilty, but in doing so, what are my chances of successfully reducing liability or even succeeding in fighting the charge? If I can't fight the charge then it'll be difficult for my insurance company to reduce liability. I can't afford a lawyer and I doubt I can procure one to work on a contingency with little to gain. moreOpen Question: Possible Scam?? Help?!!?

My boyfriend some how managed to rip the passenger side door handle off of my car the other day... he wasn't upset, hes not a beefy guy, it was a complete accident, and way unexpected for a newer vehicle (2008). His friend suggested that the dealership should repair it for free because the vehicle is a lease? Anyone ever heard of this? Yes, no? Explain please, and thanks! moreResolved Question: here is the best part of the book I swear it gets better as it gose on it is like 30pgs and i can't put it all?
I guess I should probably tell you how I know this so called “Mitch”. Well I know him through a lot of different things but I guess none of them equal up to the one reason we are so close. We have all the same interests. And we live across the street from each other. We are both in a band together and we are both in 4-H. Mitch is a grade above me and one of my best friends. I couldn’t believe I didn’t recognize him at first but I guess it must have been the headache or something like that. I could not believe that I was sitting here with Mitch. Mitch. My Mitch. The Mitch in the band. The Mitch in 4-H. Mitch, one of my best friends in the world. We stared into each others eyes for a few seconds and then we heard the ambulance sirens and we both stood up as fast as our injuries and stiffness would allow. There were three ambulances, one cop car, two cop trucks, and one fire truck. They pulled up; all got out of the cars then, for just a moment, froze looking at the disaster. Then they all stared running around, yelling, telling each other what the damage was and to “God damn it, hurry up with those pliers”. A kind woman, who looked like she was in her early 30’s, walked up and asked us how many people were in each car. Mitch looked confused for a moment then said “Two in the white car, an older man and a baby girl about a year old.” The kind looking lady looked at me; I was struggling to remember who I was with and count them, I had an awful headache. “There is 2 little girls,” I said with my eyes closed, “one about 11 and the other 10; a man about 39 and a woman about 35.” I was trying not to think about what kind of shape there were in. The lady took both of our hands and led us away from the scene and took us to one of the ambulances. “Hurry up, Barbra” said a man who was helping take the cars apart to get the people out,” We got to get these other people in there.” “Ok, Jeff let me just check them. I don’t think they are that badly injured.” The lady examined us; it was now that Mitch and I learned the extent of our injuries. My ankle was sprained, but not bad, and I had a deep cut across my forehead (the cause of the headache). Mitch had a twisted wrist and a deep cut on his chest. The lady said we must have had God watching over us, cause she had never seen an accident like this, when anyone survived. This, of course, did not make us feel anymore comforted. She wrapped my ankle and his wrist and taped up our cuts and said it would have to do for now. She hurried us to over to the curb again, told us to stay there and then walked away. They had gotten every one out of the cars and they were all carrying them into the ambulances. I was watching and then I saw my two little sisters. They had cuts and bruises all over their bodies; there arms and legs were twisted is unnatural directions. My heart stopped; they didn’t look like they were breathing. At my side I heard Mitch say “Look away Alex. It won’t do you any good; there is nothing we can do.” He said it like he was 100 miles away. He was facing away from me, refusing to look at the devastation. I was horrified; I couldn’t turn away. When he saw that I was not listening to him, Mitch grabbed my shoulders and turned me to face him. “There is nothing else we can do,” He repeated “I know, but still………,” I replied “Stay right here, I’m going to go see how we are going to get down to the hospital.” I gulped; I didn’t know if I could hold myself together for much longer. “Promise me you won’t turn around,” He said, when I did not reply. “I promise,” I whispered. He walked away He was back in a couple seconds. “They said there is no extra room in the ambulances,” he explained to me, “but there is extra room in the back seat of that cop truck.” “OK,” I said numbly “Lets go,” I turned toward the accident again. All of the people were pilling in to the vehicles and the destroyed cars were pulled of the road; into a ditch, to wait until a tow truck could come and get them. A police man walked over to us. “You will be riding with me,” he told Mitch, “I am the only one with room left; so you are suck with stinky, old me.” “Thank you officer,” Mitch replied softly, “I think you will do.” The officer looked at me concernedly, “Are you going to be, Ok,” he asked “I think I will be Ok I just…….,” my voice trailed off. The officer grabbed my shoulders and said “It will be Ok, no matter what. I promise.” I smiled a weak little smile. Mitch took my hand; we followed the cop over to his truck, we got into the backseat and drove away in to the unknown. (I know cheesy line.) The ride down to the hospital would take about an hour the cop, Cole, told us when we got into his truck. He also told us that if we wanted to talk about some stuff, we were welcome to; and he would not hear. I just sat there in shock next to Mitch. A million different things and ideas were running through my head. I saw my sisters again, our car demolished. I shook my head. I was involved in a minor auto accident, and now the other driver is trying to sue me for much more than my insurance covers. I was going at absolute most 10 mph when my car hit the other car, so I believe any major injuries being involved is almost an impossibility. Not to mention the other driver's vehicle was significantly larger than mine, reducing the effect of the accident on him. But, the amount they are suing for seems utterly ridiculous. How will the insurance company handle this? Is likely in the end for the person to get the amount they are claiming?Note: I know how much the other driver is suing for because I received a formal letter from my insurance company. moreOpen Question: i go to sleep very late and other symptoms, but do i really have insomnia?
I cant sleep before 4 am and most of the time unless i really try to force myself i go to bed at about 5. i seem to have to much energy or i just cant sleep. i have had a fairly stressful childhood (I'm 16 and most of it still exists) but i don't really worry about any of it and I'm pretty laid back about the stuff. once i fall asleep i stay asleep. most of the time for about 6 hours (but if i can i stay lying in bed trying 2 sleep if i have the time). i have read other places that some symptoms are * Poor concentration and focus - I have this in school * Difficulty with memory - i have Horrible memory, i can forget things in about 5 minutes if I'm not really focusing on it, which i normally don't * Impaired motor coordination - don't drive much but sort of * Irritability and impaired social interaction - a little. I'm not a very social person regularly since i was smaller, but i have noticed a slight increase in irritability when I'm talking with friends and others * Motor vehicle accidents because of fatigued, sleep-deprived drivers - no thanks! moreOpen Question: CASE ONE – LAW OF TORT?
CASE ONE – LAW OF TORT On a clear, dark night in Kuala Kubu Baru, Awang, a 32 year old man was driving his vehicle along a state road at slightly above the speed limit. Everything was fine and he was humming along to his favourite song playing on Sinar FM when suddenly he came upon a disabled lorry stopped in his lane. Awang applied his brakes hard and luckily managed to avoid colliding with the lorry. However a split second later, his vehicle was struck hard from behind by another car driven by Dolmat, who apparently was driving close behind Awang’s car. Awang’s vehicle was equipped with an operational seatbelt but Awang was not wearing it at the time of the collision. The impact of the collision caused serious injury to Awang and knocked him unconscious. Dolmat suffered only minor injuries as he was wearing a seat belt and the collision had activated his car airbag but the accident caused him to be temporarily disoriented. A few moments later, another car arrived at the scene of the accident. The driver was Horatio, who was able to avoid colliding with any of the other vehicles. Upon getting out from his car, Horatio observed that Awang was unconscious and Awang’s gas tank was leaking. Horatio quickly pulled Awang from the wreckage of his car and put him on the pavement several metres away from the accident site before returning back to help Dolmat. An ambulance was called and Awang was taken to the hospital. Awang was admitted to the hospital and 3 days later Dr. Surgeon performed surgery to relieve pressure on Awang’s brain. Awang is now suffering from loss of equilibrium and partial paralysis, both of which appear to be permanent. Dr. Surgeon also has given an opinion that Awang’s injuries were aggravated when Horatio pulled him roughly from the car. An investigation revealed that the dump truck was owned and operated by Towkey, who was walking to the nearest public phone to get help when the accident occurred (apparently his cell phone ran out of battery). Malaysia road safety regulations require the operator of disabled or stalled vehicles to place certain markers on the roadway to warn approaching drivers of the danger. Towkey apparently did not have such markers with him at the time, nor did he take any precaution to warn approaching drivers of the road obstacle facing them. Awang has approach you, a lawyer, to bring an action to recover damages for his injuries against Towkey, Dolmat and Horatio. Additionally Towkey is also threatening to counter sue Awang and Dolmat. Towkey claimed that because of the accident, he now suffers from panic attacks whenever he hear loud noises and also mental distress due to concern of his teenage son’s safety whom he had left sleeping in the passenger seat of the lorry. However it turns out that his son escaped unhurt from the collision. Discuss potential causes of action available to Awang and Towkey, and the defenses that will likely be asserted. moreResolved Question: Who is at fault in this traffic accident?
My son was involved in a head on collision and I am trying to get a rough idea of who's fault it is going to be. Both cars hit in the middle of our country road (gravel) Now Car 1 attempted to swerve and ended up in the ditch, Car 2 made no attempt to swerve and ended sideways and stayed in the middle of the road. Both cars were traveling about 30 mph and both have significant damage to the quarter left front side. Car 1 was wearing a seat belt and was able to walk away with minor injuries. Car 2 was not wearing a seat belt and had to go to the ER for a broken knee cap. Car 1 was not drinking, while Car 2 reported to having a few beers but did blow under the legal limit (exact reading is unknown at this time). Car 1 was sited with a ticket for being in the wrong lane (gravel road?) Car 2 was taken directly to hospital and is still in surgery (unknown if he will be ticketed) State trooper has not released his report yet. Weather was clear skies, sun at about the 10 o'clock position, with unlimited visibility. Just trying to get a rough idea of which car would be at fault. In my opinion it looks like it should be 50/50 since both drivers failed to "get over" or yield to the other vehicle on a road without a clear dividing line. The gravel road is barely wide enough for two vehicles to pass with out one vehicle making a "good" effort to get over. I know this is a unique situation so if anyone happens to know of any examples of this that ended up going to court I would love to hear them. Thanks for your time!I would also add that both drivers, were fully insured and both had valid drivers licenses. Car 1 showed no signs of being impaired and therefor was not required to take a breathalyzer or blood alcohol test. Now Car 2 may get a blood test since he is in the hospital but it is too early to know for sure.Anyone else have any imput??? moreOpen Question: How to determine the speed of a car hit during an accident, and which car struck which?
if a car (sedan, compact, sport scar) was hit by another vehicle (Jeep, van) while it was making a turn into an intersection, is there a way to determine how fast the 2nd vehicle was going before it struck the 1st car based on the damage? or to determine which car struck which? moreResolved Question: Semi Truck Blown Tire - Will their Insurance take fault?
Hello! We recently got in a car accident with a semi truck. The tire blew out on the semi as we were driving behind it (yes, we had proper distance from the truck, we were just about to pass it!). The damage all appears to be cosmetic, but we do hear weird noises when we try to break, but it is not a consistent noise. Mind you, this is a Prius Hybrid car, so they make noises that are drastically different than a typical gas fueled vehicle. My first question is, can we assume that the insurance company from the semi-truck is going to take fault? Especially when the police officer confirmed we were driving at a safe distance away from the car? In addition, the semi drivers insurance company insists that we get two quotes. We got one quote from the dealership we bought the car from for $3,600 worth of damage. We do not want to get more than one quote because we do not want just any Joe Shmoe to unhook the battery and repair a hybrid (which I am told has to be done for ANY repair to prevent electrocution). Our plan is to submit the one quote and inform them that if they want another quote, they can have their adjuster come out and assess the damage. Does that seem like a good plan? Lastly, we feel unsafe driving the vehicle, is it fair to demand we would like a rental car immediately? So, to recap, these are the questions: 1). Can we assume that the insurance company from the semi-truck is going to take fault since we would have never got in this accident had the tire not blown out? 2.) Can they make us get more than one quote? Instead of a 2nd quote, we are going to suggest that they have their adjuster estimate the damage. 3.) Is it fair to demand we would like a rental car immediately? Also, as far as the rental, the truckers insurance company has stated they will pay for a rental if we need it. I just want to know if we can demand getting one BEFORE we actually repair. Since the car feels unsafe to drive. Thanks! moreVoting Question: Did this insurance agent do something illegal?
I got in a car accident a few weeks ago. Someone rear-ended me on the interstate. Everyone was slowing down because of an accident up the road, and the person behind me wasn't able to slow down enough and hit my car. Oddly enough, there's no visible damage other than the muffler hanging down which makes it now scrape the pavement whenever I hit any dip in the road. Anyway, it's her fault so her insurance is going to pay for it. I got my estimates last week. One of them was for $1900, and the other was for $2000. And I got one today for $2400 at the place that Allstate (the insurance company of the chick who hit my car) recommended we go to. An appointment was set up for me on Friday with an Allstate agent, some appraiser, what they call a "wreck tech." He took a look at the car, and gave his own estimate of $1600. Now, naturally, I'm allowed to either accept or reject his estimate and go with one of my own and get it repaired with Allstate paying for it. He said that yes, this is the case. I want to go with the $1900 one because with that, I would actually be getting Japanese parts from Mitsubishi, not what they call "aftermarket" parts which are parts which might not exactly fit the vehicle but can still be used as a replacement. And he was saying, "Ohhh, well you really don't wanna do that because I'm not sure that foreign parts like that are even made for cars older than 5 years." It's a 7 year old car. I checked into his claim here and he's actually incorrect. So I told him, very clearly, that I don't accept his estimate since its not only lower than the ones I got, but it includes aftermarket parts rather than the originals. During our meeting he took a quick look at my estimates and practically ignored them and gave me the $1600 and said he'll send a check for that amount, even though I said I didn't accept it. I now have a check from Allstate to repair my car, for $1600. I called the guy today and now he's saying I'm obligated to take his estimate since I already have the check. I called another lady at an 1-800 number and she said she would have the check canceled and instructed me NOT to cash it, and I told her that I wanted a different agent. So I then got on the phone with someone named Rhonda and she told me the same thing the guy did: that I am obligated to take their estimate. I'm not obligated to take their estimate, am I? Is there anything illegal going on here? moreVoting Question: Do anyone know about duty to litigate your damages concerning car damages from auto wreck and what i should no?

Math question easy 10 points ? What are the factors of the equation w^2+3^w-180 For problems 11 through 13, a projectile is fired upward with an initial speed of 800 feet per second. It is given that h= -16t^2+800t (h is the height of the ball). 11. Factor the given equation completely. 12. What will you set h equal to in the equation to find how many seconds it takes for the projectile to hit the ground? a. h = 0 b. h = 1 13. Use your graphing calculator to find how many seconds before the projectile hits the ground. Let y^1= -16t^2+800t , or factor and solve for t algebraically. a. 0 seconds b. 50 seconds The formula for questions 14-16 came from the police department. They use this formula to determine the speed at which the car was going when the driver applied the brakes, by measuring the distance of the skid marks. So when you get to problem 16, it is referring to what a person would interpret the situation if the skid mark was zero distance. So, if the skid mark distance equaled zero, that would mean, the speed of the vehicle, r, was zero, or that the car was able to stop instantly. For problems 14 through 16, the equation d= .05r^2+r models the distance, d, in feet traveled by a car moving r miles per hour (r is the speed of the car) after the driver begins to stop the car. 14. Factor the equation d= 05.r^2+r 15. What is the domain of the situation above? 16. If the distance the car traveled after applying the brakes equals 20 feet, what does that mean to the officer investigating the accident? (HINT: Let d = 20, bring 20 to the right so that the equation equals zero, identify the coefficients, A, B and C and then use the quadratic formula to solve mathematically) a. The car was stopped when the driver applied the brakes. b. The car was going about 12.36 miles per hour c. The car was going about 32.36 miles per hour d. There is not enough information to determine the correct answer a. all positive real numbers b. all positive integers c. all real numbers 16. -- A Vineland man whom police said is in this country illegally was driving while intoxicated when he was involved in a two-vehicle accident at the intersection of Main and Lake roads, police said Monday. Nasario Torres-Pedroza had a blood alcohol level of 0.16 percent -- twice the legal limit -- at the time of the 7:30 p.m. Sunday collision, police said. A statement from police indicated Torres-Pedroza is in this country illegally. Immigration and Customs Enforcement was notified, police said. Torres-Pedroza was traveling east on Lake Road and Joseph Santoro of Clementon was driving north on Main Road when their vehicles collided. There is a stop sign on Lake Road where it intersects with Main Road. Police said Torres-Pedroza failed to stop at the intersection. Santoro's vehicle spun sideways after impact, struck a utility pole and overturned. He was trapped inside and had to be freed by members of the Forest Grove Fire Department. He was transported to South Jersey Regional Hospital, Vineland. Torres-Pedroza and a passenger in his vehicle -- who was not identified by police -- fled the scene. Officers from the township and Newfield apprehended the two a short distance away. Torres-Pedroza was charged with assault by auto, driving while under the influence, reckless driving, failure to stop and being an unlicensed driver. Bail was set by Municipal Judge David Krell at $2,500 cash. Torres-Pedroza was committed to the Gloucester County Jail, Woodbury. http://www.nj.com/gloucester-county/index.ssf/2009/06/illegal_vineland_immigrant_inv.html moreVoting Question: do you think this short story is good?
for my original writing coursework in english i have written this story about domestic abuse, would you please be honest and tell me if you think it is any good Hearing his key being thrust into the door, I held my breath not daring to breathe. I lay in my bed my knees tucked tightly into my chest, rocking back and forth, back and forth. The keys crunched and grinded in the lock, then I heard the click and the door swung open, indenting the side of the wall. His boots echoed throughout the narrow hallway and I watched his shadow advance up the wall with every step he took towards me. His eyes circled the room, and then fixated on me. My heart plummeted deep down into my body and pounded in my lower chest. He was in one of those moods. I was afraid to stay, scared to leave. I remained shivering on the bed. The room enclosed around me each wall turned darker, each object grew smaller, except he survived as tall. He swung his fist towards me and it collided with my cheek bone, another bruise to try and hide. The vibrations thundered through my head, whilst receiving another blow to the stomach. My body caved as I arched my back in agony. Black eyes, busted lips and a bruised body, he was slowly killing me. “Follow me” he bellowed. I looked down. “Why” I murmured. I had angered him his blood was boiling, turning his face crimson red. He marched from the room, I heard draws opening and banging before he returned clenching a fork in his hand, like an angry athlete ready to launch his javelin. Hurtling his hand towards me, the fork stabbed me in the cheek. I let out a squeal; however this just determined him to wound me more. Leaping from the bed I tried to dodge his stabs, he followed me, grasping a glass, he chucked it at me. My body buckled and I plunged to the floor. I lay lifeless on the ground blood streaming from my face a shard of glass, protruding from below my eye. He wound my long hair round his wrist and gripped the root, dragging me across the carpet, I prayed he would kill me; I couldn’t take this any longer. He halted in the hallway, my back burned “Wait there” He returned, with a blindfold... I’d never been more terrified in my entire life. He wrapped it harshly round my eyes, not taking care to avoid the glass. Pulling me to my feet by my hair, he shoved me out the front door, it made its familiar click and I knew we were both outside. I stumbled blind down the path, tripping on flags and uneven ground. He opened a car door, and forced me head first into it. My nose hit the seat, the stench of cigarettes over powered my mind as the pain escalated all over my body. He got in the driver seat, and we sped off, away from my home. The car bounced along the roads prolonging the suffering. The window was open and the wind swept through, as an invisible earache. I have no sense of where we were, though I knew we were travelling too fast. This journey continued for several minutes, until there was a sudden change in direction and the car swerved, rocking onto two wheels. The tyres screeched flipping the car, I fell down into the roof of the vehicle and I slowly felt the mangled car start to crumple beneath me. I was only 15, why was my Dad doing this to me. I saw black. I later woke up and saw through blurred vision, doctors and nurses surrounding me. An array of tubes and wires covered my face. “Lie still you’ve been involved in a very serious accident” the nurse spoke “You are seriously ill.” .” A tear rolled down my cheek. In a tearful voice, I replied “Before I die, will you do one thing for me? Make sure you get my mum out of her relationship it is too dangerous.” She just stared at me. The machines surrounding me started to beep constantly, I felt sleepy, doctors rushed in with instruments. I shut my eyes. I rose out my body and hung above, I saw myself lying there pale, tattooed in bruises, skin stained red with blood. The doctor spoke to the nurse. “Why didn’t you say you would make sure her mum got help” he enquired. The nurse looked upset, and then she replied in a broken voice. “Her mum was in the car when it crashed” I turned to my right; my mum was holding my hand.i am from england in year ten which is 4th year of high school my target grade is an A moreVoting Question: CAN U GET COMPENSATION FOR AN ACCIDENT AS THE DRIVER OF AN UNINSURED VEHICLE?

Does the same apply to Y.A. ?
People who send excessive texts and e-mails may have a mental illness, according to an article in a leading psychiatric journal. As more people leave the office computer, only to log on as soon as they get home, the American Journal of Psychiatry has found addiction to text messaging and emailing could be another form of mental illness. The article, by Dr. Jerald Block, said there were four symptoms: suffering from feelings of withdrawal when a computer cannot be accessed; an increased need for better equipment; need for more time to use it; and experiencing the negative repercussions of their addiction. Block said that although text messaging was not directly linked to the Internet, it was a form of instant messaging and needed to be included among the criteria. "The chief reasons I see to consider it are motor vehicle accidents that are caused by cell phone instant messaging, stalking and harassment via instant messaging, and instant messaging at social, educational, (and) work functions where it creates problems," he said. "It should be a pervasive and problematic pattern, though, not isolated incidents." moreVoting Question: Boy Scout Merit Badge "Emergency Preparedess"?

Therefore, they were not insured at the time of the accident (I don't understand how the officer who took the report did not noticed the expiration date.). I wanted to contact the driver but there was not a contact number on the police report (I don't think it's such a good idea to go to their house.). As a result, I am planning to take the case to small claims. I would like to know how many different estimates of the damage do I need? Do I only sue the driver or the owner as well? If both, how do I find out who the owner of the vehicle is (DMV would not tell me)? Any other tip would be appreciated. Thanks!Btw, I'm from California.I only have liability coverage (it does not cover for the damages). moreVoting Question: totaled car and Kelley Blue Book?
I am having some trouble deciding whether to go to my insurance company to claim a single person accident or to just drive until the inspection is up and then go and get another vehicle at that time. My truck IS in driveable position and has a dent in the front that will keep me from passing. I got the sticker a month before the accident. I have no previous violations against me and I am younger than 25. My truck is old but has good mileage and stuff. And at this time my insurance rate is very low. However, the unexpected accident caused me to make a quick decision as to how to go about this. I do not have money saved up for a new truck and so this is where the insurance may be necessary So today I researched the Kelley Blue Book value of my truck. I was given 3 different estimates according to the trucks condition. My main concern is if it would be beneficial to go through the insurance and recieve the estimate or not. The truck WILL be totaled by them so I am sure of that. Now, here's the question. My truck was in great condition before the accident occured at all. So when they look through the Kelley Blue Book which condition will they decide? Fair? because of the truck after the accident. or good/excellent? which was before the accident.the car is definately totaled because it is not a small dent, i hit a telephone pole and pushed the grill, front bumper, and the light holdings into the area of the radiator. The cost of repair is way more than the truck is worth. And I was given the truck from the grandfather so there is no loan to worry about moreResolved Question: What is the fine for a hit and run accident?
My son had my vehicle last night. I live in Calgary. He said a vehicle hit the car when it was parked. Now the police are saying that my vehicle hit them. What is the fine for this? and what will happen to my insurance? My son is already banned from driving my vehicles, Duh!!!! moreVoting Question: Do I make an offer to the dealership first or do a car history report & inspection first?
I'm buying my first car. USED at a independent dealership (in Toronto, Canada) I want to know which process is better to negotiate a price? Should I .... Checkout the vehicle > Test Drive > personal Inspection >Make Offer/negotiate (once they accept the offer) > do a carproof/carfax check > Take to offsite inspection > Accept and Sign papers if it pass OR// Checkout the vehicle > Test Drive > personal Inspection > do a carproof/carfax check > Take to offsite inspection >>Make Offer/negotiate (once they accept the offer) > Accept and Sign papers if it pass MY GUESS... I would Make offer and let them know this offer stands if the car is as they say it is no accidents/no hidden problems then do carproof ($50) then take it for inspection (the inspection is like $130CAD too I don't want to spend that much if afterward the price we negotiate is not good enough? Also, if I dish out $130 + $50, the dealer knows I want the car and will be firm on the price if I try to bring it down afterward? But then I might want to change my offer depending on the inspection like there is RUST hidden or take back my offer because it has been in accident? Anyone share their experience? moreResolved Question: Why does the owner of the car have to make a claim when I was driving, now I am injured?
Why does the owner of the vehicle I was driving that was involved in a car accident have to file a claim? I have insurance, and the person who hit me has insurance, and admitted 100% at fault? The at fault drivers insurance has already paid for the totalling of the vehicle owners car. moreVoting Question: Do I have to list all additional drivers for car insurance in Ontario?
I am shopping for car insurance and noticed that if I include my fiancee and son in the quote, the insurance jumps from $1600 a year to $3100. That's almost double and none of them have any accidents or anything. If I don't include them as secondary drivers, can they still drive the vehicle and be insured? And if not, does that mean that every family in Ontario must list all family members that MIGHT drive the vehicle? Answers are MUCH appreciated. moreResolved Question: Adoptive parents that help birth mother with housing and car?
Okay, basically I am 17 turning 18 in August. I already have a 6 month old daughter and I recently found out I am pregnant again (almost 3 months) even though I was on a damn IUD. Anyways, my kid's dad is a bum... he recently got into a car accident and can't walk now and we're stuck living at his parents house. I realize I probably can't handle another baby so I am considering an open adoption. But... I've heard about adoptive parents that will pay for the birth mother's housing and vehicle (I don't need insurance or food I have that covered). I don't want to sound ignorant or anything but with a 6 month old and paying for full time college on a barely part time job it's hard and my boyfriend's parents will kick us out since I am pregnant even if I give it up. If so, can someone give me information on where I can find out about this. Thanks. moreResolved Question: Should I purchase a vehicle with a salvage title? I know that it was in an accident, but it looks good.?
The vehicle is half the price of what it would be if I were to go and buy it just used off the lot at a dealer. Will I have a hard time getting Farmer's Insurance? I live in AZ. Thank you! moreResolved Question: Can I sue a dealer for selling a car without airbags?
Can I sue a car dealer for selling me a used car with no airbags? I bought this car, had an accident, bags did not deploy but all warning sensors came on, in checking find there are no airbags in the vehicle, either passenger or drivers side. What is my recourse?Head on - vehicle has never been in a crash - bags were removed and sold by dealer we have found evidence that this dealer has been charged with this before. I paid slightly above the average blue book for this car because of low miles and it was in excellent condition. Thanks.First, there is a way to check original factory parts and paint - I grew up in a GM dealership family. Second, I was smart enough to have the car mechanically and structurally checked before purchasing. Wasn't smart enough to check for legally required air bags. Second, I have hired an attorney who took the case on a contingency basis, meaning if I don't get paid, neither does he. Should tell you something!!! He is also representing me in the case of the driver abandoning the car in the middle of the road in the middle of the night, which is how I hit him. Thank you all!!!!!Oops - second paragraph should have been third - guess I hit the steering wheel harder than I thought! moreResolved Question: very minor car accident...what will happen insurance wise?
I bumped into another car while backing out of a private lot. There was minor paint transfer to the other vehicle but no other marks. The other driver called the police any way. The officer took our information and then sighed and said, "It under 1,000 dollars worth of damage I am not gonna report this, In fact I can't see the damage...have a good day" The other driver was pissed and said she would talk to her insurance guy" My insurance provider sighed like the cop did and told me not to worry about it. What do you think will really happen? moreTop Vehicles Accidents Links
