I am eating about 2300 calories per day and about 25 grams of fat, I kinda have a thing about the fats(almost all are healthy fats, usually no more than 4 grams saturated). I am a vegetarian, also. Everyone at my school tells me that I don't eat enough, even though I do and they don't realize how much I eat and how full and bloated and miserable I am. They also say that eating too healthy can counter act and be unhappy and make me die, which is a bunch of bull crap! It just really hurts my feeling, even my best friends say it. My diet consists of: Kashi products(oatmeal, cereal, waffles, rice, pizza, etc...I practically live off it) 8th continent soymilk...i usually dont use regualar milk brown rice whole grain pasta whole grain bread broccoli mixed vegetables bananas apples dried apricots raisins oranges orange juice apple juice rye bread fat free pudding Odwalla Bars Ensure Shakes..occasionally the plus pistachio nuts Spirutein protein shakes w/ 1 cup soymilk and 1 tbsp natural peanut butter organic soups(Amys or Muir glen) Breakfast: waffles syrup fat free cream cheese ensure shake juice Lunch: Odwalla bar brown rice veggies broccoli dried apricots raisins pretzels Snack: orange, apple, or banana Spirutein protein shake(soymilk and peanut butter, sometimes banana) Dinner: pasta tomato sauce juice english muffin with apple butter Snack: ensure popcorn fruit That is pretty much what my diet consists of, is it healthy?? Anything that I should add? I also weight lift, BODY PUMP tape 3x per week then one day I usually go to the gym for 45 minutes doing the bike, eleiptical, and walking on the treadmill. Resolved Question: How much CALORIES and what kind of foods should i EAT if I want to LOOK delicate and pixie-like?

And kinda boney (like you can see my collarbones and stuff) and very small. I'm 5"3, 92-94 lbs and 14. I don't know anything about eating right kinds of foods but I try. I know to avoid cake and fries and crap like that but... Like today (I wasn't hungry all day but I ate anyway) for breakfast I had a Quaker blueberry muffin bar and 2 fig newtons. And only drink water. For lunch I had a smucker's uncrustable and finished the box of teddy gramams, there was prolly 2 servings left (1 serving = 24 bears) [I know I shouldn't have done that but I struggle with binge eating. Im getting better with therapy though.] And for dinner I'll probably eat salad or a caprese salad (tomatoes and mazzarella cheese and vineggarette) since we go out to eat every night. (Minimal dressing and water to drink.) Are those foods bad? I know they are processed but that's all my family buys is processed food. The only healthy food we buy is fruit cups and bananas (thanks to me.) Can you help me out and give me an example of things I should be eating? Also are Quaker Oatmeal to go squares bad? they are oatmeal but like an oatmeal cookie type of thing. Remember, I want to be really small and pixie-like. I also go to the gym about every other day. I jog 1 mile and a half on the treadmill in under 15 minutes and do 1 mile and a half on the eliptical machine. Plus I lift 5 pound weights to keep my arms toned and do stomach crunches on this stomach cruncher thingy. Also, I don't like meat so I get my protein by peanut butter, eggs, and nuts. x Thanks so much if you bothered to read all this, haha.  more

Resolved Question: I'm trying to lose weight the health way, vegan diet?

I've been a vegan for almost 2 years now but I haven't exactly been healthy (I've been a compulsive over-eater since I was 5 years old) and i finally got it under control and went from 260 pounds to a lowest weight of 166, then i gained like 30 back during a school year because of the stress of all-AP classes. anyways, i want to be a healthier person. I have this book called Becoming Vegan that has a detailed account of the nutrients that people need and how to fulfill those needs with healthy vegan foods (instead of french fries and soy mac 'n cheese). This is the plan: 1,600 calories a day or less 50 grams of fat or less (i'll be aiming for less, like 50 will be the absolute maximum) 88 g. of protein (calculated based on my weight) 5-6 small meals a day high-fiber foods drinking at least 64 oz. of water a day getting at least 6-9 hours of sleep a night (i did that over the summer and i felt so much more energized!) here's the types of foods i'd be eating: Grains: (6-11 servings) whole wheat bread, bagels, muffins, cereals (kashi rocks) brown rice (mmm) grits (the type you just add water to and microwave instead of like a bunch of butter and grease, eww) whole-wheat pasta Vegetables: (3+ servings) salad, corn, potatoes, etc. Fruit: (2+ servings) bananas, oranges, apples, watermelons, grapes, strawberries, etc. Beans and Bean Alternatives: (2-3 servings) beans, tofu, rice cakes, nuts (what are some good kinds that aren't too fatty?) Fortified Soymilk and Alternatives: (6-8 servings) fortified Silk, broccoli, almonds Other essentials (Omega-3 fatty acids, vitamin B12, Vitamin D): (1-2 servings) flax oil, olive oil, enriched soy/rice dream does this sound good? i'm trying to lose about 88 more pounds in a year or under in a healthy way. i exercise about 2 hours every day (working a different body part on different days. a good bulk of that time is cardiovascular exercise by the way) so is 1,600 calories enough or too much? thanks :)Nemo, there's not NEARLY enough protein in that diet plan. more

Aroudn 5:30, I eat chicken or tuna, vegetables, and some rice.In between every meal I either have a celery stick, 1/2 cup of cheerios, an english muffin with Peanut butter, or some toast. Whole wheat By the way, Is eating a power bar necessary? It gives me energy.. but 230 calories?.... TO eating a Power bar before exercising. Resolved Question: Addicted to muffins! Help! Diet tips for students?

How many calories are in a banana nut muffin? Here's a link to the size of the muffin that I just ate: http://www.thecornercafe.com/images/holiday/new/PineappleNutMuffin2.jpg Most of my body is skinny, but my stomach has alot of fat. I should stop eating muffins, but I'm a college student and the muffins are so good, convenient and cheap. I can't bring snacks with me from home because I carry a laptop in my purse and there's no more room. 5'1" 104 lbs femaleI have been dieting and losing weight since the winter break, but the semester just started and I've already started to eat junk food (muffins), but I still do cardio 3-4 times a week) more

Resolved Question: Calories in a banana nut muffin? Diet tips for a student?

I've been on a healthy diet with lean meat, vegetables, fruits, skim milk, etc. I've stopped eating processed foods that contain high fructose corn syrup hydrogenated oil, etc. I've even stopped eating fast food. I lost a few pounds over the winter break. However, the spring semester has started and I find myself eating quick and easy food again. I'm a college student and I don't have time to prepare meals. I just bought a banana nut muffin today and feel guilty. Does anyone have any tips for a college student? Also, I still exercise. (3-4 times a week doing cardio) It wasn't from starbucks, but their muffins are around 400-500 calories. So, I'm guessing the banana nut muffin I ate today was about 400 calories or even more? It was so moist and sweet. 5'1" female 104lbsI'm at a healthy weight. Every part of my body is slim; however, my stomach has a lot of fat. I've been doing cardio, but it doesn't seem to be getting rid of any fat on my stomach. Also, is there any nutritional value in a banana nut muffin? Are muffins really unhealthy? Should I avoid them at all cost?I don't know how to ride a bike (kind of embarrassing) The foods at my school are very cheap, which is another reason I buy them. The muffin was $1.50 It's also convenient. (I don't have to carry snacks from home in my bag/purse) I already carry around a laptop and it would be so inconvenient for me to carry home-made food or even snacks. more

Resolved Question: Is this a good, healthy way to lose weight?

I am 5'10" and weigh 168 pounds. I have tried diets ranging from slim-fast to atkins. Then I have come to the realization that it's about lifestyle change since I can't stick to anything in particular. I need advice....the way I'm currently eating seems to be helping and I have started working out 6 days a week for about 30 minutes a day. One of my co-workers doesn't seem to think I'm consuming enough calories and acts overly concerned. Here is a sample menu: Breakfast - 2 lowfat banana nut muffins w/coffee Snack - Yoplait Light Yogurt Lunch - Ham, Turkey, or Roasted Chicken on whitewheat bread with miracle whip, lettuce and tomato Baked Lays Chips Snack - Small apple or grapes Dinner: For dinner, I always try to have a variety so that I don't get bored. If I'm tired, I'll just heat up a lean cuisine or healthy choice w/added veggies . When I cook, I try to bake vs. fry my food and always add fresh veggies/salad to each meal. Any opinions on what I may need additionally? more
