Resolved Question: im stuck on my assignment can anybody help?

In 1996, Christopher bought the freehold of an empty shop for £95,000. Title to the property is registered at The Land Registry. The property included living accommodation (a flat) above the shop. Christopher borrowed money from his Uncle Stanley both to finance the purchase and to cover the cost of fitting out the shop and redecorating the flat. The total sum he borrowed was £125,000. He gave Uncle Stanley a first legal charge over the freehold as security for repayment of the loan and Uncle Stanley registered the charge at The Land Registry. Having completed the purchase, Christopher opened up as a newsagent/general store in the shop premises and moved into the living accommodation above. With the money borrowed from Uncle Stanley he refitted the shop, installing new shelving (costing £5,000) and refrigerators and display cabinets (costing £10,000). He also installed a central heating boiler and radiators in the flat at a cost of a further £5,000. In 2001, Christopher found himself facing a financial crisis and to stave off bankruptcy he borrowed £60,000 from NatWest, giving them a second charge over the freehold, which was duly registered. However, Christopher’s financial fortunes did not improve and his trade creditors (his suppliers) have now obtained a bankruptcy order against him. Christopher has paid all interest on loans up to date but has not repaid any of the loan capital. The business is now valued at £165,000, which includes (a) the freehold of the shop and the flat (the valuers say £120,000, excluding shop fittings and the flat’s central heating system), (b) shop fittings – the shelving, refrigerators, display cases, etc (valued at cost) (c) the central heating in the flat (the valuers say £5,000 for this) (c) the goodwill of the business (the valuers say £25,000). Assuming that the business is sold by Christopher’s trustee in bankruptcy for £165,000 as per the valuation, how much will (a) Uncle Stanley (b) NatWest and (c) the trustee in bankruptcy receive respectively from the proceeds of sale? more

Voting Question: How do I remove my name from an Australian Business Connections Listing?

Recently, some unnamed companies have been pestering me regarding "investment oppurtunities". When I declined I asked the phone operator where she got my name and where she was calling from. She vaguely explained she got my name and workplace phone number from Business Connections Listing but refused to advise where she was calling from, and the call became rather heated. I don't know how my details became public? Is there a way to find out where my name or business could be listed or remove my name from such a listing? I know the Do Not Call registry may not help, and I am only an employee not the owner of the business. more

Resolved Question: Policies of antivirus, antispyware, registry cleaners, etc?

I know most of these programs designed to clean your computer and getting it to run most efficiently allow a set number of computers to install the program at one time (if you bought it). Does this mean you can install it on multiple computers if you uninstall after scanning/removing in say a computer repair business? If antiviruses can only be installed a set number of times, how do businesses offer virus removal/etc services? more

Resolved Question: Would you stay with your husband even if he went to jail?

Ok, my sister's husband went to jail for 5 months for a crime that both her and him say that he didn't commit. She even showed us the lie detector test that proved that he didn't do anything (sex offense, but had NOTHING to do with his daughter), but because of the fear of conviction and doing up to 5 years for something he didn't do, he took a plea bargain and is getting 5 months. They have one daughter, who thinks Daddy is on a "business trip". I feel so bad for my sister. Her and her husband have been married for over 5 years, and she is scared because he might end up on the Sex Offender Registry and she doesn't want this to negatively affect their child or herself. She calls me all the time asking for advice... and I don't know what to tell her... should she stay with him even though he is in jail and might end up on the sex offender registry?? (BTW, I saw the lie detector results as well and he did pass everything but the ADA still wasn't willing to drop the charges). He is accused of going upstairs to a neighbor's home (the girl was 15) and grabbing her chest and genitals. The only problem is... my sister says that she was at home watching TV with him when this allegedly occurred, but the police wouldn't accept her alibi because she was his spouse and there was no one else to corroborate it. The girl also said that there were other times that he tried to come onto him, but apparently she has changed dates, times and details every time she has been questioned about it. more

that gay marriage would negatively impact small businesses? Mind you, the LGBT community in 2008 contributed $712 BILLION to the economy. Resolved Question: What could be causing AVG 8.5 to freeze my computer?

So, my computer at work is a little old and slow, but not horribly so. I've installed AVG 8.5 on it and I have Windows XP on it. I keep everything updated all the time and I run AdAware Anniversary Edition and CCleaner on it. I know it isn't bogged down with other programs running because I've already stopped all unneeded programs and I've fixed any registry problems and cleaned up all temp files. But my main problem is that I will set the computer to run a scan and it will freeze anywhere from halfway to three-quarters of the way through the scan. Nothing else is running, no windows open, nothing. I'm boggled and confused. Anyone have any ideas? I'd love to know that my computer with all of my business documents won't just munch itself someday. more

Resolved Question: Should I Include information with what I am registered to in my wedding invitations?

So I am making my own wedding invitations, and I am including a small card (like a business card) with the invitations with our wedding that has our wedding website on it. On our website page we have information about where we are registered. Thing is for both of my registries I got over 300 cards with the where we are registered at and what our registry #. Thing is I've heard you shouldn't put those in the invitations because it like sends a meaning of "you must buy something" and I don't want to send that meaning, I just want to let people know where we are registered. I know we have our website, but a lot of our guest might not want to use the computer or might not have access to a computer. so my question is should I included the cards with our registry on it? more

Resolved Question: Are there any associations I can register my horse in?

My horse is a 9 year old Quarter Horse gelding. I do not know if he is registered because we were never given any papers but his previous owner said he had some(however he could of been lying). I was wondering if I can get blood tests done to see if he might be a Foundation QH or an Appendix QH. He is branded with Diamond D in Weleetka Oklahoma. From what I know this is not a real ranch just a small farm business. Anyways I was wondering if I could somehow get him registered with the American Stock Horse Association, or some other stock horse registry. If in fact he is a Foundation or Appendix QH would I be able to register him with the AQHA? Please any help will be thanked, I'd just like to know if I can register my horse with any association. more

Resolved Question: What Happens If I Report Violators To The "Do Not Call Registry"?

My registration is up to date, I have never let it lapse. Yet I'm being bombarded by calls. These are not charities or businesses/services I have ever used or contacted. They are unsolicited sales pitches. They are recordings that go on for several minutes even after you hang up. I live with my mother. She is 81 and has serious health problems. If I had to call 911, I couldn't get through. Cell phone reception here is practically zero so I can't count on that. I want to put a stop to this before something happens. If I report will anything be done?Yes, they speak English with American accents. more

Resolved Question: Should I sign a contract saying I'm responsible for illegal software on my company computer?

I work for a small-ish company. When I started, my laptop came pre-loaded with illegal Adobe, Microsoft and Symantec products. Our company has recently fired some employees on pretty nasty terms and today we were invited to a meeting wherein we were told our company was being audited for using illegally acquired/duplicated software. We were told to delete/uninstall a long list of programs, then we were given a form to sign that basically says our laptops are property of the business and that we as individuals are responsible for anything except the OS (Windows) that may be on the machine. Most people in the office flatly refused to sign it while others seemed to think it was okay to sign as long as they put a note that it only accounted for programs installed after today's date. Can the Window's registry even recognize the date of programs installed/uninstalled? Will it do them any good at all to add the note? Should I refuse to sign this contract because it's only a way for the business owner to protect himself from the huge fines he'll get for being a cheap jerk? more

Resolved Question: Can a business phone number be added to the Do Not Call Registry?

I work as a receptionist for a busy office with a 6 line phone. We receive a lot of telemarketing calls, some are recordings, others are real people, all are annoying and a waste of our time. I've heard that answering these calls lets them know that it's a live and active number (therefore they'll call it more) so I don't answer for numbers I don't know on my home and cell phones, but that obviously isn't an option at work. Is there any way that we can reduce the frequency of these solicitation calls so we can better serve our own customers? Thank you. more

Resolved Question: What is the point of registering on the Do Not Call list? Does it actually stop them?

I have been on the Do Not Call list for a year. I am STILL getting between 12 and 15 calls per day from some company called National Auto Warranty Services. I have asked them to take me off of the list. The telemarketer who called this morning then told me that by my simply "asking" to be taken off of the list, I am automatically put on a "hot lead" list where the sales reps are required to call me a minimum of 3 times daily. He then told me that the only way to "unsubscribe" to the sales calls was to purchase a block from him for 39.99 per year. He then stated that after that my number would be removed from their list. Now, obviously this is a crock and a fraud. My question is, why are they still calling me day in and day out? I have filed the online complaint form 7 times against these people, I have asked them not to call. I have certainly NEVER done any kind of business with them. Does the registry actually take any kind of actions? I don't want to change my phone number because my number is on all of my business cards, webpage..it would be a costly pain in the a@#. HOWEVER, 15 calls a day is ridiculous! And they have some sort of "spoofing" software that causes the phone number they call from to change on caller ID every time they call. For instance, they just called today and the number came up 555-1234-5678, but yesterday it was 506-226-5294, but I talked to the exact same guy!!!! How is this violation enforced??? more

Although I don't have bult in bluetooth, I've brought a bluetooth 2.0 dongle - the devices have installed and I can see it under device manager but just can't use it. For the each of the following scenarios, determine the design and the appropriate statistical method. In addition, determine if causality can be inferred and the scope of inference. Each scenario is worth 8 points and be sure to answer all questions for each scenario. (Total = 40 points) a) Merck Pharmaceuticals has developed a new drug for treating Schizophrenia. They wish to compare this new drug to the leading competitor drug and have obtained 1000 Schizophrenics from a National Registry through random sampling. Patients and doctors were blinded to the treatment groupings which were randomly assigned. The goal of the study is to determine whether a quantitative measure of disease severity is less for the new drug. They also wish to estimate the difference between the two treatments for use on their drug label. The quantitative measure appears fairly normally distributed within each of the treatment groups. b) An ecologist is interested in determining whether there is a change in the population size of a certain pest after a new recycle site has opened in her neighborhood. She has gridded the neighborhood and randomly sampled 40 households. For each household, she uses traps to count the number of these pests before the recycle site is in use and then to count the number of pests after the recycle site is in use. The observed counts ranged from 1 to 6 in the pre and post samples. c) Scientists are concerned that ozone levels vary more during the summer than during the winter. They take samples at random locations throughout Denver during the middle of the summer and then again take samples at random locations during the middle of the winter. d) An instructor has invested in a premium coffee cart business operating outside of the Central Classroom Building and would like to know how much students are willing to pay for premium coffee. Resolved Question: Please: Microsoft Excel 2007 TOOLBARS; Change to 2003 toolbars?

Microsoft Office 2007 (Excel, Word) has totally wacky new toolbars. Is there ANY way to get it to look like the 2003 toolbars? Everything is so much harder to find, I guesse it will just take time to learn it. Is there a checkbox anywhere, or anywhere in the registry to somehow change those awful new toolbars? I looked in options and didnt find anything. Can anyone save me from having to painstakingly learn these new ones? (They do it for "Control Panel" "Switch to Classic View", why cant they do it for this??!) I have 2003 on my own computer; I refuse to conceed to the newer version. The problem is that I own a business where I work on other people's computers, answering their questions, and more and more they are having the newer 2007 version. Resolved Question: Why is it that people call for people at someone's house that the person don't know but do it over and over?

Don't you think that you have a right to charge someone an X amount of Dollars for calling for someone that isn't there and repeats on doing it after you have told them that person don't live there? I have had the same people call over and over and ask for a person that I don't even know and they have refused to stop calling Every offense is worth $ 11,000.00 according to www.donotcall.gov *Reminder: Even if your number is registered, companies with which you do business may continue to call you. So may charities, political organizations, and telephone surveyors. more information about the companies that may continue to call the numbers on the registry https://www.donotcall.gov/complaint/complaintcheck.aspx http://www.ftc.gov/bcp/edu/pubs/consumer/alerts/alt107.shtm I picked out some of the questions and answers on www.donotcall.gov Why would I register my phone number with the National Do Not Call Registry? The National Do Not Call Registry gives you an opportunity to limit the telemarketing calls you receive. Once you register your phone number, telemarketers covered by the National Do Not Call Registry have up to 31 days from the date you register to stop calling you. When I register my phone number, how long until it shows up on the National Do Not Call Registry? After you register, your phone number will show up on the registry by the next day. Telemarketers have up to 31 days to get your phone number and remove it from their call lists. If I registered by phone, will I receive a confirmation? No, but you can verify that your number is on the registry online at www.donotcall.gov or by calling the registry’s toll-free number (1-888-382-1222) and following the prompts for verifying that your number is on the registry. If I choose to register my phone number, how will my information be used and disclosed? We collect your phone number and store it in the National Do Not Call Registry so that telemarketers and sellers covered by the FTC’s rules can remove your phone number from their call lists. Telemarketers are required to search the registry every 31 days and delete from their call lists phone numbers that are in the registry. Phone numbers in the registry also may be shared with law enforcement to assure compliance with federal and state law. If you contact us via the Internet, we also collect your email address to confirm your registration request. We will store your email address in a secure manner, separate from your telephone number. We will not share your email address with telemarketers. Can I register all my family and friends? You should register only your own telephone numbers. What happens if I register more than one number at a time online? You will get an email for each number you register online. You need to open each email and click on the link in each email within 72 hours to register those numbers. I moved and got a new phone number. Do I need to register the new number? Yes. Can I register online if I do not have an active email address? No. The online registration process requires an active email address. If you register online, we will send you an email message with a link in it. You need to click on the link in the email within 72 hours to finalize your registration. If you do not have an email address, you can register by phone (1-888-382-1222). If I register my number on the National Do Not Call Registry, will it stop all telemarketing calls? No. Placing your number on the National Do Not Call Registry will stop most telemarketing calls, but not all. Because of limitations in the jurisdiction of the FTC and FCC, calls from or on behalf of political organizations, charities, and telephone surveyors would still be permitted, as would calls from companies with which you have an existing business relationship, or those to whom you’ve provided express agreement in writing to receive their calls. Are calls from political organizations or calls soliciting for charities covered? Political solicitations are not covered by the TSR at all, since they are not included in its definition of “telemarketing.” Charities are not covered by the requirements of the national registry. However, if a third-party telemarketer is calling on behalf of a charity, a consumer may ask not to receive any more calls from, or on behalf of, that specific charity. If a third-party telemarketer calls again on behalf of that charity, the telemarketer may be subject to a fine of up to $11,000. If I don’t want to put my number on the National Do Not Call Registry, can I still stop telemarketers from calling? Yes. Even if you do not register with the National Do Not Call Registry, you can still prohibit individual telemarketers from calling by asking them to put you on their company’s do not call list. What is the relationship between the state do not call lists and the National Do Not Call Registry in terms of coverage? The National Do Not Ca more

"the software for the magicjack does not run directly from the device. it fully installs on the windows system, which also makes the magicjack less attractive for situations where one might want to use it on someone else's computer (say when visiting family). making this even worse, there was no easy way to uninstall the software from the system, with the program not even showing up in the windows remove program window. update: magicjack confirmed that there is currently no easy way to uninstall the software. the process required to uninstall the software requires multiple windows registry edits and the removal of several folders on the windows system. based on this, i wouldn't recommend using the magicjack on the systems of friends, family or business associates." -- (see magicjack fails to cast a voip spell) nobody should accept having to leave unwanted software on a personal computer, or any tell-tale trace of the mj program on a public computer, a business workstation, or a borrowed device. the key concepts here are action and intent. if mj is not actively monitoring computer activity and collecting data about its customers, that's great. they would be taking no action that anyone could be concerned about. but consider their intent. their tos spell out their intent -- the intent to feed context sensitive advertising, which requires manipulation of information from your brain through their software into their processors. there seems to be little restriction of what info their software can see. (kind of like your home builder installing bugging devices and cameras into your bedroom, just not yet watching the feed.) then there is the ability of mj to modify their software (upgrape, anyone?) at any time, without the common user's ability to stop it, and that revision could include the spyware coding. while you, the uncommon user, have the ability to see what they are doing, the common user has no idea when the change is made. now let's consider mj's intent of not building in an uninstall capability. i am suggesting that this exposes mj's intent to have their software on your pc whether you're an active phone customer or not. what would be the intent of having that software on the pc of a former customer? (consider, also, their "convenience" feature of taking the device with you so you can use it on a friend's pc -- thus installing the software on that machine, too!) what information could that software obtain that would be of value to mj? and what could the common user do to stop it? mj could shut down their phone service tomorrow, and they have a window into 1 million pcs -- to feed advertising, log key strokes, and obtain surfing patterns. by laughing at the tos provisio more

"be afwaid, very afwaid". this is just pointing out the not-so-obvious that is hidden deep within the tos, and other 'gotcha's' that you won't realize until after you give up your $ and privacy! first: here is the contact info for magicjack: po box 6785 west palm beach, fl 33405 magic jack phone number: 281-404-1551 billing magicjack number: 561-594-2140 caution: it looks like they track the number that calls and places you into a repeating loop if you call back a second time. so if you need to call a second time make sure its from a different number. second: in the tos you agree that everything in your computer is fair game for them to know about, all web sites, email, and numbers called are there info. you agree to have all of your information resold to third parties. there is no un install for this program. even if you stop using it, it gathers your information. you are put under high pressure to sign up and pay for 5 years. there is no published phone number, email address, or mailing address. all customer support is done via type in the box chat. there is no written warranty on the box. it breaks, you buy another to maintain your service. computer must be left on to make or receive calls. pop up window comes to front of screen anytime there is a call in or out call. majicjack spyware slows down your computer even when you are not using magicjack advertising is in the pop up box. and yes, you do save around $150 a year not using a real voip company. at what little price people put on the information and security. so ask yourself, is it really worth it? wait .... there's more. majic jack is owned and run by ymax. they are not a stand alone voip provider. also ..... (consider, also, their "convenience" feature of taking the device with you so you can use it on a friend's pc -- thus installing the software on that machine, too!) what information could that software obtain that would be of value to mj? and what could the common user do to stop it? mj could shut down their phone service tomorrow, and they have a window into 1 million pcs -- to feed advertising, log key strokes, and obtain surfing patterns. by l more

Voting Question: How to resolve tension and soured relationship with future mother-in-law over wedding.?

I (bride) am suppose to get married in 4 months. My fiance and I always wanted a small intimate wedding, but once his mother went hysterical over our plans, I decided to compromise and more than double the guest count. In front of her son, she cheerfully agreed to this number and said that was great. Since then, she tries to push and guilt me into an even larger guest list about every 2 months and frequently breaks into tears. They are prominent in their community and have stated that this is important for business relationships. (this is sad to me as I believe a wedding is meant to be shared w/ those you love. they didn't even leave room for my fiance's friends on their guest list & instead insist I should make room for them) They also insisted in paying for their guests food, stating family tradition. My family hesitantly accepted realizing we could have a much nicer wedding w/ his family's help....big mistake! My future mother-in-law was already butting in (showing up at venue and photographer appts) but that really created a fuzzy line and relinquised some of my right to say this is my/our wedding. she gets into fits every couple of months of emailing and texting me about the guest lists. she also talks more than any person I have ever encountered..it drives me crazy, esp when she is going on and on about guest lists, etc. She also seems to have a problem w/ other details we have planned and says we have to register for certain items and at certain places, etc. and doesn't say anything nice when I share details. Everything seemed to be resolved re guest list size, but then after I took her out to see some of our registry items in an attempt to include and build a relationship, the guest issue resurfaced and she went so far as to breaking me into hard crying. she didn't apologize or anything. I told her all this wasn't worth it and to go ahead and invite as many ppl a she wants. She twists things so badly and even denies/lies about her interactions w/ me. I also forgot to say that we chose a venue of her choice, even though it was not what I wanted. So, basically, I feel I am having a wedding and my parents are spending tons of money on a wedding that nobody is happy about. it's far from the wedding of my dreams. She never even thanked us for our big compromises, it's like I am wronging her by not having this be the largest event of the year. I don't know what to do as a cancellation will mean lots of lost deposits. i do want to marry my fiance very much, but it's hard for both of us to go forward when there is this tension b/w his mom & me. he said he thinks it should be postponed until we fix our relationship. i think he should stand up for me more and demand respect towards his future wife. his mom can be very irrational in her thinking though and can she does no wrong, she is the victim in her mind. I'm sure i'm not my best self w/ the wedding stress either, but at least i'm not spinning lies..that's part of the hardest thing - i don;t know if i will ever fully trust her again. it's sad as i use to have a good relationship w/ his parents and spend lots of time together. luckily, i am blessed w/ parents who support whatever we want and have been there with only help and no demands. his mom also falsely tells my mom, my fiance and even emails me that she only offers help, which "back-fired on her" she's not an evil person, just twisted and TOO much! I do want a good, close relationship w/ my in-laws but want to establish a line of respect & boundaries. I also am so sad that i am not having the wedding i envisioned, but it is the melding of 2 families afterall..so, compromised. why can't she accept that we both are compromising? why do i even have to deal w/ this discussion, a wedding is kind of the bride's thing. do i give in to all her wedding wishes? (she's acting like it's her wedding) or, do, I as the bride, stand my (compromised) ground and hope that doesn't mean a cancelled wedding if they don't come around soon? i don't know if either solution will fix our soured realtionship, but i don't believe she is able to have a productive conversation about mending our differences. i need an apology and an admittance, which i will not get from her. help..saddened and confused.this is suppose to be a fun time to plan a wedding w/ my mother. instead, my future mother-in-law has been making it absolutely miserable. more

Resolved Question: I want to share my wedding with somebody?

I'm very excited about my wedding but no one else seems to be so I'm feeling pretty disappointed and lonely. My fiance of course is looking forward to it, but being a man he's not as into the wedding stuff as I am! For some reason, my mum just isn't interested. She doesn't want to be the maid of honour because she says she doesn't want to be in the wedding party or have to 'do' anything. I feel pretty disappointed because she's usually not that kind of person and she has even been a bridesmaid in other people's weddings. She said she'll do it but doesn't want to. My fiance and I have had a very short amount of time to plan the wedding. He's from the USA and he's in the process of permanently immigrating here (Australia). He's lived here numerous times but we've also had to spend months and sometimes years apart. We thought we would probably have to get married at the registry/courthouse because of the limited time but we looked at reception places just in case there were any short term openings. Amazingly there was and we got a really lovely place for cheap because they were happy to fill in empty dates rather than have no business. I have my dress but he still needs to get his suit and we need to hire a photographer, rent cars and organise a little honeymoon. We're excited that it's all coming together and that we'll have a proper wedding to remember, but my mum doesn't seem to care. Has anyone else experienced this? more

Resolved Question: My computer has so many viruses it only woks in safe mode plz help!!!?

I have windows xp professional edition and when i start it none of the users work when you log in, it will display the background but then not work. When i open task manager there will be tons of scvhost processes running and if i guess the right one to end it will load everything else. Once i do that itll display a rundll error (working on cleaning up the registry now) and then when i open iexplorer it will say connecting for a very long time and no other application will be able to access the internet. So i open task manager and guess another scvhost to end and if im absolutely lucky i can get on. Or i can end task on the iexplorer and 10 mins later itll come up with an error report send dont send box and strangely after that the internet will work. Alternatively i can start it in safe mode and constantly run all kinds of virus scans, adaware, mcafee, superantispyware, etc. and they all turn up nothing. Also i could do a system restore but dont want to lose all of my music or any business documents more

Resolved Question: Who is exempt from obeying the "do not call" list?

I am on the national do not call list and also the Kansas do not call list. I keep getting calls from two different numbers. I keep telling them to stop but the calls still come. I have filed complaints on the do not call registry website. One company that keeps calling is called Datascension. Their website (http://www.datascension.com) says "Datascension is a market research company and is excluded from the "Do Not Call" list." Is this true? I thought that only charities, political organizations and companies that you have done business with in the last 2 years were exempt. Is this also true about market research companies? more

Resolved Question: Is the Federal gov't trying to put small farmers and ranchers out of business? If so, what are they up to?

The EPA wants a methane tax on every head of livestock over a certain number, For cattle that's every animal over 50. The USDA wants every animal to have a RFID chip implanted in the ears. These are costs the small farmer will have to incur. Many have said it will put them out of business. The NAIS program designed to put the chip in the animals they say is supposed to track disease. But it's common knowledge in the industry that it will not have any effect except to create high cost and a registry of private property. Here's the kicker... Corporations only have to pay a low price for the RFID chips for the whole herd, while the little guys have to pay a much higher price for each individual animal. Same with the Methane tax. NAIS isn't officially mandatory yet. But, by the way it's set up, in all practicality it is. What's going on here?dumdum, do you know anything about this?ohbrother, Horses are on the list for NAIS.I like the way you think nobull54!!! more

Resolved Question: tattoo's VS Microchips? for dogs?

well here are some reason's why I wanted to tattoo my dogs... - Having a tattoo gives you something to prove that is your dog. - A tattoo is a visible form of identification if someone knows to look for a tattoo or happens to see it. - Research labs can not accept any animals that come in with a tattoo (scary to think labs may be using stray dogs). - in some areas, the tattoo can be part of the lifetime dog license. The number can then be registered with a registry that will accept any type of number. -tattoos are permanent(for the most part) -tattoos can be applied while the dog is under anesthesia for routine things like tooth cleanings. microchips can migrate, not all shelters have a microchip scanner, you need your microchip tag on your pet(as there are several different microchip companies), there is a chance that in 10 years from now the microchip company will no longer be in business. HERE are some of the things I wanted to know about tattoos... -why does it seem like everyone is so against tattoos? -who offers tattoo's for dogs? breeders, vets or are there home kits that you could buy so you could do the tattoo yourself? -do dogs get tattos by clamps? pens? stamps? or somthing else? -at what age are tattoos done? can they be done at any age? and anyother info would be greatly appericated. and to let everyone know...yes my dogs are microchipped. does anyone have both? why or why not? more

Did you all notice how they passed this latest Bail-Out bill when over 80% of the American people were against it? We really need to WATCH them or that is exactly how they will get this crap done! All in the name of "Saving" us from ourselves! I've read all the answers so far and am impressed. Thanks to you all! Here's Obama's record... As a candidate for the U.S. Senate, Obama said there should be a national ban on concealed carry licenses, because licensees commit so many crimes. He claimed that Texas’ licensing of Right-to-Carry endangers people in Illinois. In truth, a Texas license does not authorize carry in Illinois, and Illinois is one of only two states that have the Obama favored policy of not even allowing people to apply for carry permits. California law, while generally hostile to concealed carry, allows carry by some domestic violence victims who have received a court order against a stalker or a similar personal threat. Obama successfully fought against enactment of a comparable bill in Illinois.Guns are used 2.5 million times a year in self-defense. Law-abiding citizens use guns to defend themselves against criminals as many as 2.5 million times every year—or about 6,850 times a day.1 This means that each year, firearms are used more than 80 times more often to protect the lives of honest citizens than to take lives..... more

Resolved Question: Joint checking account problem?

I had a joint checking account with my boyfriend. We had this account for a couple of years. He started a business and instead of creating a business account he was paying employees out of our checking account. He was suppose to get a dba(I think that's what its called)so he could start a business account.Anyway,we would deposit our checks and I would pay bills,he would pay employees out of it and not let me know(never noted the check registry)So one month I saw we had 3 notes left on his truck,we had it in the bank and I was tired of the notes,I paid it off.He had paid employees making my payment insufficient.Things like this went on for a few months and we split.I went to the bank to close it they said not without him.So the account stayed open.I do not understand why I cannot remove myself from the account. They said he would have to come in also in order to close it.Needless to say the account is now in default(charge off whatever)I heard the bank sued my ex and got a judgment against him.My question is would they also have the same judgment against me?How does this affect me starting a new account at any bank in my name?A friend told me I would not be able to get another checking account until the judgment was paid.I do not even know what damage he has done as far as the checking account goes. more

Resolved Question: What services do I need to offer in a basic computer-tune up business?

So I'm thinking of staring a computer tune-up business at my college. I'm not a computer expert, but I have a fair amount of knowledge on how to fix and tune up computers. My idea would be to start a small business where other students could pay me to tune up their computer. I would run scans for viruses, adware and spyware, run Ccleaner to clean up their registry, run windows update, stop unnecessary programs from starting when windows boots up, etc. The idea would not be to fix broken computers but to get a little more speed out of computers that are running sluggishly. Aside from the things that I've mentioned, what other things do you recommend I do to get people's computers running more smoothly? I want to make sure that I avoid doing anything that could have negative side effects (I don't want to make a working but slow computer turn into a nonworking computer), but are there other tried-and-true computer tuneups that I could do? Thanks. more

Voting Question: Land Law problem help?

Obviously I know I have to write it myself but I have NO idea where to start on this problem question! Here it is: Jane and her boyfriend Jack are the registered legal owners of a large house and gardens, Green Fields. When they bought green Fields, Jane’s uncle helped her out by providing £50,000 from his savings towards the purchase price. In August 2005, Jane and Jack were approached by a neighbour, Claire, who said that she was going to start a dog breeding business and would like to be able to walk her dogs around the laneways of Green Fields. Jane and Jack granted Claire a right of way for 99 years. Claire did not take any further steps with regard to this right. In November 2005, Jane and Jack were approached by Too Expensive Ltd, which was interested in buying the land to build a new superstore, and they agreed to sell Green Fields. An agent for Too Expensive Ltd visited Green fields on three occasions between January 2006 and March 2006. On each occasion, the agent met Jane’s uncle who told the agent about his contribution to the property. The agent also saw Claire walking her dogs on the laneways on one occasion, but did not approach her. Too Expensive Ltd also conducted a search at the Land Registry which came back clear. The sale to Too Expensive Ltd was completed and the transfer of title registered at Land Registry in July 2006. Shortly afterwards, when Too Expensive Ltd sought planning permission to build the superstore on the land, another neighbour, Sarah, contacted the company to say that she held the benefit of a restrictive covenant. Sarah has produced a deed between her and Jane’s predecessor in title, Dawn, dating back to a time when the property was still unregistered, stating that the owner of Green Fields was not to use the land for commercial purposes. Resolved Question: How can I stop illegal practices by a telemarketing company?

This is a very large telemarketer that has contracts with many big-name corporations to make outbound sales calls. Even if you are listed on the national Do Not Call registry, the telemarketer can still call you on behalf of any company that you already have a business relationship with. (In this case, it's my bank, one branch of a huge financial services institution that is trying to sell me insurance.) Fair enough. But the law states that if you ask them to put you on THEIR Do Not Call list, they must do so, & they may not call you again without risking up to $11,000 in fines. I have already filed a complaint with the FTC because the telemarketer refused to put me on their do not call list, instead telling me I had to call the FTC at 1-888-382-1222. Which I did, & it turned out to be simply the National Do Not Call registry, which wouldn't do any good anyway due to the loophole that allows companies to call you if you already do business with them. But the FTC doesn't pursue individual complaints, just adds them to a database to use if & when they decide to investigate a company. So what else can I do? more
